2. The Data We Collect and Where It Lives

Data processed locally on your device only — we have no access to it:

• Mood check-ins, emotional entries, and journal reflections
• AI conversation history within the app
• Calendar events accessed for context (with your permission)
• Screen time and app usage patterns (with your permission)
• Voice recordings for personality analysis (processed on-device, never uploaded)
• Sleep, activity, and health data from device sensors (with your permission)
• Emotional pattern history and behavioral insights

Data we collect for account and service operation:

• Email address (for account creation, waitlist, and service communications)
• Anonymized, aggregate app usage analytics (no personal identifiers included)
• Crash reports and technical diagnostics (stripped of personal content before any transmission)

3. How Your Emotional Data Is Protected

William's core AI processing runs entirely on your device. This architecture means:

• Your emotional data is never uploaded, synced, or backed up to our servers
• Peetu Inc. employees and systems cannot access your personal journals, conversations, or emotional history
• Your data is encrypted at rest using your device's native hardware security
• Deleting the app or using the in-app delete feature permanently removes all local data

4. How We Use Account-Level Data

The limited account-level data we collect (email, anonymized analytics) is used solely to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
• Send you service-related communications (e.g., product updates, account notices)
• Analyze aggregate, anonymized usage patterns to improve product features
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

5. What We Do Not Do With Your Data

• We do not sell your personal data to any third party
• We do not share your emotional data, conversations, or behavioral patterns with advertisers
• We do not use your emotional conversations to train AI models without your explicit consent
• We do not share your personally identifiable data with data brokers or marketing networks

6. Third-Party Services

We use a limited set of trusted third-party services for operational purposes only. Your emotional data is not shared with any of them:

• Cloud infrastructure: Hosting for our website and account management systems only. No emotional or behavioral data is stored on these platforms.
• Anonymized analytics: Aggregate, de-identified product usage data only. No personal identifiers are transmitted.

We may update our third-party service providers from time to time. Any new providers will be held to data handling standards consistent with this policy.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you (primarily your email)
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Opt out of non-essential communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
• Withdraw device permissions (calendar, microphone, health) at any time through your device settings

Note: Because your emotional and behavioral data is processed locally on your device and never transmitted to us, we have no ability to retrieve, provide, or delete it on your behalf — only you can access or delete it through the app.

8. Data Retention

Your emotional and behavioral data lives only on your device. When you delete your account:

• Your email address and profile are deleted from our systems
• Anonymized, aggregate analytics data that does not identify you may be retained indefinitely

We reserve the right to retain data as required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or protect our legitimate business interests.

9. Children's Privacy

William is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age threshold. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at support@iamwilliam.xyz. We are not liable for information voluntarily provided by users who misrepresent their age.

10. Security

We implement commercially reasonable safeguards to protect account-level data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You acknowledge and accept that you provide personal information at your own risk. We are not liable for any unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss of data that occurs despite our reasonable security measures. In the event of a security incident, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time at our sole discretion. We will provide notice of material changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of William after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree, you must stop using William.

12. Limitation of Liability for Privacy Claims

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PEETU INC.'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY PRIVACY-RELATED CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $50 USD. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF WILLIAM OR ANY ALLEGED PRIVACY VIOLATION.

13. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution process in our Terms of Service.
